Scarf recently directed feature film FORTUNE drama displaying an outstanding example of true Independent Filmmaking. Shot in Harlem, New York, FORTUNE is an intelligent and riveting psychological interplay between three phenomenal actors.
In the film, Scott Cohen delivers a breathtaking performance as a psychiatrist on the brink of suicide whose life collides with the ambitious son of his wealthiest patient (played by former male supermodel turned actor Jason Shaw)- a young man who claims to desperately need help and will not take no for an answer. As layers of deceit and denial are peeled away, the film explores how loss and tragedy can drive, inspire, or even destroy not just ourselves but those we love as well. The script for FORTUNE co-written by Scarf attracted the attention of an extraordinary team of experienced and talented artists, including Golden Globe winner Keir Dullea, the star of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.
After receiving critical acclaim and screening at a number of international film festivals, Fox Home Entertainment released Fortune on DVD throughout Australia on 10 January 2010. A date for the US release has not yet been set.
